Only one person showed up. Why the offer was of almost no interest to anyone and how much you can earn at the ski resort - in our material

Reasons why ski resort put up for auction, the administration did not inform. The only participant in the auction was Sergey Shchevyev. They plan to conclude a lease agreement with him for five months - until the end of March next year. The monthly fee will be 527 thousand per month. For an entire resort, this is a symbolic amount, market players note. But accepting the offer even on these terms means taking a risk. Even before opening, you need to check the functionality of the equipment, which already requires large expenses. And if we talk about repairs, then at the current exchange rate the amount will be simply astronomical, says Aleksey Nagibin, partner of the Zavyalikha GLK, Zavbus project manager:

“First of all, there are now questions about the lift, its performance, there is a question about the gearbox, as far as I know. A Doppelmayr specialist spoke that year, I just talked to him personally, he said that the gearbox needs to be changed, and this is a very expensive thing, costing a million, at least, because they are produced in Austria. The technical condition of the complex itself now leaves much to be desired. And this applies, by the way, not only to one lift - “Conrad”, which we are talking about, a six-seater, there are two more lifts. There were questions about the cannons that year, that is, the cannon has two pumps, and one of them did not work that year. How will he snow it? There are questions about the trails, they haven’t been properly cleaned for two or three years, they haven’t been mowed this summer, that is, it takes a lot of snow to use them up,” - says Nagibin.

The Zavyalikha ski resort was created in 1998, 10 kilometers from the town of Trekhgorny. In 2008, bankruptcy proceedings were introduced against the operator of the complex, the Zavyalikha company. Then they said that the resort would not only not suffer from this, but would also enter a new stage of development. Another attempt to save Zavyalikha was made three years ago, then the ski resort was headed by Vladimir Zabelin. He, despite 30 million debts, was able to keep the resort afloat. However, it was not possible to create a full-fledged snowmaking system. And without it, the complex is completely dependent on the weather, notes Artyom Gallyamov, development director of the Eurasia resort:

“Still, the ski resort’s main flow of money and clients comes from the holidays. If the resort skips this period, then we can safely say that it will not earn anything and will even go into the red. A cable car like the one in Zavyalikha consumes a lot of electricity. These are not hundreds of thousands of rubles, these are millions per season. And, among other things, the staff must be qualified to service all this. The throughput is cable car big. If we take the calculation that, let’s say, a thousand, up to two thousand, can visit the resort on a weekend, and the cost of the cable car will be a thousand rubles, multiply by 2000 people. So calculate how much the resort can bring if you take the March, February, January holidays. 14 days multiplied by two million, 28 million in revenue per year, of which all costs still need to be paid,” - says Gallyamov.

Among the advantages of Zavyalikha is the largest 6-seater chairlift in the Urals, and there is a large selection of slopes, although many of them have been closed recently. Therefore, it will be difficult to attract tourists, believes the director of the Center for Sports and Tourism, Igor Shekunov:

"At a time when we have" Sunny Valley“was underdeveloped, there was a flow to Zavyalikha, and we even periodically booked hotel complexes located nearby. Today, in Kus too, we have enough open good complex. And the flow to Zavyalikha actually decreased very much, to say the least, that it simply disappeared. Go there to last years- the M-5 highway is very overloaded, which at the pass there can be unexpected, but we are talking about winter. In general, traveling such a distance, spending 3-3.5 hours on the road in order to get a not very large ski area, and hotel service there is also not developing. Since then, no new complexes with good spas or anything else have appeared there,” - says Shekunov.

The simplest scenario suggested by experts is simply pumping out the remaining resources from the resort - without any investment on the part of the tenant. But then it will be even more difficult to restore Zavyalikha, for example, by the next season. True, there remains hope that the tenant will be conscientious, or will turn out to be a rich eccentric who rented the entire complex solely for his own needs, and then the load on the ski center will be reduced to a minimum.

The unique beauty of the Southern Urals is the majestic ridges of ancient mountains and sparkling lakes, mountain streams merging into flowing rivers. And the South Ural mountains, although they bear little resemblance to the sparkling peaks of the Alpine three-thousanders, turn out to be quite attractive to Russian skiers.

One of the modern and rapidly growing ski resorts in the Southern Urals is the Zavyalikha ski resort. It is located in the Chelyabinsk region, 7 km from the city of Trekhgorny. The resort got its name from Mount Zavyalikha, on the northeastern side of which it is located. According to experts, although the height difference does not even reach 500 m, the mountain is optimally suited for laying ski slopes of any difficulty level.

The resort has been welcoming its guests since 1999. You can often meet professional athletes here - a training center is open for them in Zavyalikha. In addition, competitions of Russian snowboarders are held on the slopes of the ski resort.

There is hope that snow cannons will soon be operational on other slopes. The official website of the Zavyalikha ski resort claims the most careful care of the snow slopes, however, according to reviews from skiers, the slopes are not always in ideal condition.

“Stone Flower” is a comfortable, modern hotel complex located in a picturesque location among the South Ural peaks. A holiday here is a real winter fairy tale. The building itself is located in a pine forest, which is best strolled in the evening, admiring the night lights mountain peaks and clean starry sky.

The location of the hotel was not chosen by chance. In a pine forest, the air is always fresh, saturated with the aroma of pine needles. People with pulmonary diseases will feel great among evergreen trees. In general, every tourist will feel full of energy and vivacity here.

The hotel complex has a restaurant complex, a mini cinema, a sports ground and four hotels. The territory of the “Stone Flower” has its own training slope, where beginner skiers can work out with an instructor. You can sign up for classes directly at the hotel reception.

On March 5-6, 2016, we visited the Zavyalikha ski resort, which is located a few kilometers from the city of Trekhgorny, Chelyabinsk region. We rode here for the first time. And first impressions, as you know, are the most vivid and truthful. I would like to note right away that the Zavyalikha ski resort is a wonderful place for skiing or snowboarding.

How we drove to the Zavyalikha ski resort

We left early in the morning. The travel time from Chelyabinsk to the Zavyalikha ski resort is about 4-5 hours, and the distance is 220 kilometers. Getting to the Zavyalikha ski resort is very easy and simple. First we drive along the M5 highway past Miass, Zlatoust, Kusa, Bakala, then we turn to the village of Pervukha, pass the village, and at the traffic police post we turn left. From the traffic police post to the Zavyalikha ski resort it is about 7 kilometers. You can also get there through the city of Yuryuzan. But the path through Yuryuzan will be longer.

Despite the fact that the forecast predicted heavy snowfall, the weather was excellent. Dry track and clear sunny weather. And on the way to the Zavyalikha ski resort you pass closed city Trekhgorny, where you can only get by with passes.

At the Zavyalikha ski resort

The first impression of the Zavyalikha ski resort is the feeling of a Soviet ski base. Compared to the Sunny Valley resort built according to European standards, everything here looks Soviet. Like any ski resort, the Zavyalikha ski resort has equipment rental, several cafes, changing rooms, toilets and paid parking.

It is worth noting that prices for services at the Zavyalikha resort are 30-40% lower than at the Solnechnaya Dolina resort.

But I was especially captivated by the six-seater chairlift! Firstly, the lift moves very smoothly. You can get on and off without too much trouble. Even a rider with no experience can easily use it. For example, at the Solnechnaya Dolina ski resort the chairlift moves very sharply, causing inexperienced riders to often fall. Secondly, the lift has a closing top that protects from wind and snow.

Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8 of the Zavyalikha Ski Resort begin from the chairlift.

Trails of the Zavyalikha Ski Resort

The height of Mount Zavyalikha is 860 meters above sea level.

At the Zavyalikha ski resort you will find 9 trails of varying degrees of difficulty, with elevation changes from 150 to 430 meters and a length from 2200 to 2980 meters. The trails are designed for both beginner skiers and snowboarders and advanced riders.

There is also a track for training children and beginner athletes.

Especially worth noting is green route No. 3 “Malachite”. If you are just starting to ski or snowboard, then the Malachite trail is perfect for honing your skills and enjoying skiing. The track is 2980 meters long, has a few “steep” spots for beginners, but for the most part is quite flat. Often not only beginners, but also experienced riders ride here. In addition, the Malachite route is the longest on the Zavyalikha ski resort.

Also, at the Zavyalikha ski resort, many people ski through the forest, which separates the trails from each other.

Nature at the Zavyalikha resort

The ski resort is surrounded by the Ural Mountains.

When you go up on the chairlift, you see a beautiful forest below. The travel time on the lift to Mount Zavyalikha is up to 10-12 minutes, so you have time to take wonderful photos and selfies.

The slopes of the Zavyalikha ski resort offer unique views of the mountain ranges of the Southern Urals. The forest on the territory of the Zavyalikha ski resort grows mixed. Birch, pine and spruce trees grow. There are many huge stones that are fenced in a special way.

Probably, the passion for alpine skiing and snowboarding is “fueled” not only by the feeling of speed when skiing from the mountain slopes, the wind in your face, the bright winter sun, but also by the extraordinary views of the mountain ranges in the distance!

Where to stay at the Zavyalikha ski resort

On the territory of the Zavyalikha resort there is a hotel complex “Stone Flower”. But you can rent inexpensive housing in Yuryuzan and Pervukha. We stopped at a small campsite in the city of Yuryuzani, a kilometer from the M5 highway. Camping includes equipped trailers, a cafe, a bathhouse and a parking lot. The price of accommodation per day per person here is 250 rubles. Most often, truckers stop at the campsite. Inside the trailer there are sleeping rooms, a toilet and a washroom. In general, there is everything for an overnight stay.

I really liked the Zavyalikha ski resort. I hope that we will come back here again, conquer new slopes and enjoy skiing!
