Switzerland

Switzerland has a big advantage over other European countries - in late December and January there is almost always snow (at least in the mountains). Real, furry, lying in large snowdrifts along the streets and houses.

If you want to catch the holiday directly, it is better to go to Switzerland for Christmas, since the New Year is practically not celebrated in this country. For noisy festivities and festive fun choose one of the major cities- Christmas markets are held there, sweets and souvenirs are sold.

If you want peace, you should choose one of the ski resorts: the celebrations there are not so large-scale, but there is an opportunity to enjoy solitude and beautiful mountain landscapes.

The best option, in our opinion, is to celebrate Christmas in the city, and then go skiing or snowboarding to one of the Swiss resorts.

How to relax on New Year's Eve cheaper

  1. The most important - try to buy hotels and tickets as early as possible(in September - November, or even in the summer). Wherever you go, with the approach of the New Year, prices for tours and independent holidays are growing every day.
  2. If it’s not critical for you to meet the New Year directly abroad, but you want to plunge into European Christmas culture or go to the sea and the beach, look for options with a return BEFORE or departure AFTER New Year’s Eve. Such options can cost several times cheaper than a trip that includes New Year's Eve.
  3. Sales in Europe start in January - if shopping is important to you, plan your holiday for the New Year so as not to return to Russia at the very beginning of January.

We hope this selection of countries for holidays for the New Year 2020 in Russia and abroad will help you decide on a vacation spot for the New Year holidays!

Have you already planned your vacation? We welcome your comments, recommendations and feedback!

10 interesting options where to go for the New Year 2018 in Russia. Where to meet and celebrate the New Year in Russia and how to spend the New Year holidays.

Where to go for the New Year in Russia?

If it is not possible to "overwinter" in hot countries, in the cold season we are warmed only by the thought of the most magical holiday - the New Year. And although the New Year holidays are the perfect time to travel to a foreign coast, most of us prefer to celebrate at home, in snowy Russia, so that there is a Christmas tree, friendly passers-by in red hats and Santa Claus's toy beard, ice slides and sleighs. My opinion is that it is possible to make New Year's Eve special and unusual in our area. For example, it is now fashionable to settle in ski resorts. I bring to your attention a selection of the most suitable places where to celebrate the New Year in Russia, where to go inexpensively.

Where to meet and celebrate the 2018 New Year in Russia?

If you suddenly decide to go on vacation in Russia on a tour, then see the prices below to determine the duration of the trip.

New Year in Moscow

I decided to start from Moscow, because. Every year, tens of thousands of our compatriots flock here in order not to miss the lighting of lanterns and the red star on the main Christmas tree, to attend a festive concert at main square and take pictures at artfully designed shop windows. The festive fireworks is already a tradition, and here it strikes with its magnificence. Moscow is one of the best places where you can celebrate the New Year in Russia.

Another well-known place where the famous architectural structures and the main sights of the city are located is the exhibition center of the Ostankino district of VDNKh, namely, Poklonnaya Gora. Fashionable restaurants and family cafes are concentrated here. A romantic, magical atmosphere on a festive night will help create a panoramic view of Moscow. This produces a super-effect on any tourist.

You can meet 2018 in such an unusual way as riding a river boat. Moscow river is not worse than St. Petersburg's Neva. Especially at night.

New Year's Peter

Another beautiful place where you can celebrate the New Year in Russia is St. Petersburg. You can talk endlessly about the most visited places and main sights of St. Petersburg. cultural capital Russia in winter is reminiscent of pictures from films and TV shows about Russian emperors and palace coups. No wonder that on New Year's Eve, travel agencies offer a great variety of tours to the city on the Neva.

Luxurious squares of St. Petersburg with majestic palaces are probably the most affordable option to celebrate the main holiday of the year to this day. As in Moscow, a tall Christmas tree is annually set up on Palace Square, garlands are lit and a magnificent concert is organized.

Peter opens the doors of the most worthy establishments for a celebration on the main square or Nevsky Prospekt. Here are my 3 favorite restaurants: Terrassa, Nebar, Che-Dor.

New Year's Eve in the resort city of Sochi

© infanticida / flickr.com / CC BY 2.0

I think a Russian person will like it in Sochi at any time of the year. On New Year's holidays, the city becomes a kind of "piece of summer" in winter. Krasnaya Polyana, for example, attracts tourists with "cool" skiing. The New Year is celebrated here on a grand scale, and therefore Sochi is another option where to go on New Year's holidays in Russia.

Sochi residents also hold festive concerts and celebrate January 1 under the chiming clock in the city square - the South Pier. By the way, not far from the South Pier there are a large number of cafes / bars, where the holiday atmosphere reigns all year round.

Be sure to visit the Olympic Park, which has recently become the most attractive place for Sochi guests. There is also "Fisht", the winter sports palace "Iceberg", a curling center.

Baikal for the New Year

© marcofieber / flickr.com / CC BY 2.0

Where you should go in Russia for the New Year holidays is Baikal. I remember this place very fondly. I remember how my heart sank when I first saw the beauty of Baikal - the "pearl of Siberia". In winter, it is no less picturesque.

On New Year's Eve, you can arrange real winter adventures here: dog sledding on ice, fishing, creating ice figures and much more. I assure you that here you will meet many compatriots from different regions - from Moscow to Vladivostok. locals we have long been accustomed to such a "party", therefore the conditions here are the most suitable for an active and unforgettable vacation. In the vicinity of Lake Baikal, there are many hotels, ski resorts where you can stay by booking a room in advance.

If you get bored of admiring the icy Baikal, go to the Small Sea (one of the most touristy parts of Lake Baikal). The Small Sea is separated by the mysterious island of Olkhon. There are many small rocky islands on Baikal, but Olkhon is the largest. The island is endowed with its own legend about shamanic gods and evil spirits.

For example, it was interesting for me to look at the monument to Admiral Kolchak in Irkutsk, because. this is my favorite historical character. And the most fun and large-scale New Year's programs are arranged on the territory of the Taltsy Museum - a complex of architectural structures-expositions.

You need to know, if you want to get to Baikal, then you will need to get to Irkutsk. It is from here that the most convenient routes to any point of Baikal.

Asians arrive here and stop in the Primorsky capital not only as a “transit”. Just imagine what beauty is around - the sea, modern high-rise buildings and architecture of the 19th century. In winter, it is even warmer here than in many cities of Russia, where you can relax on New Year's Eve.

On the night of 31 Dec. as of 1 Jan. on the main city square - pl. Fighters for the power of the Soviets, where the "White House" is located, do not push through. Loud music, fireworks, Santa Clauses with Snow Maidens, performances of city talents, etc.

In Vladivostok and its environs there are many comfortable and inexpensive camp sites overlooking the sea bay. Particularly extreme Primorye people like to arrange trips to the taiga on New Year's holidays (some with hunting, some with fishing, and some just breathe in the forest air and warm themselves by the fire with a guitar).

Friendly Karelia

"Frost-resistant" travelers will be happy to spend the New Year and Christmas in the Republic of Karelia. The best place to stay is in Petrozavodsk – here you will find the most fun establishments and the best holiday accommodation at very affordable prices.

Journey to Altai for the New Year

Another snowy option where to go to NG in Russia, which will certainly interest fans of winter sports. Altai region- land of majestic mountains. Here are the most elite ski resorts and sanatoriums. You can immediately kill two birds with one stone - run in the ski slopes and improve your health. In addition, excellent “matinees” are also held in sanatorium institutions.

For example, the resort town of Belokurikha is in demand among tourists who leave only positive reviews. Swim in the hot springs of nitrogen-radon waters (this is the visiting card of the resort). Belokurikha itself cannot boast of numerous sights, so you need to go here purposefully for "skiing". Adherents of trekking (hiking in the mountains) will appreciate the mountainous terrain of Tserkovka.

On New Year's Eve, you can stay somewhere in the Katun sanatorium (you can think of entertainment yourself). Take the children to the water park "Belovodie" - you can spend the whole day here!

Sheregesh, Kemerovo Region

© mmmaleksei / flickr.com / CC BY 2.0

The Sheregesh ski complex, located in a small village of the same name in Siberia, is a great place where you can spend your New Year holidays in Russia. It is called "native Courchevel". It is here that over a million active and more or less wealthy tourists come. Weather? That's where it will always snow on New Year's Eve!

If you only dream of becoming a professional skier, here you will have a great opportunity to learn yourself and your children. There are advanced and training tracks. In our country, these are almost the highest ski hills - the total height is more than 35 thousand meters. On the territory of the resort there are a lot of hotels, cottages to accommodate guests. Colorful festivals are held here throughout the year. I think New Year's Eve will be no less fun.

New Year in European style in Kaliningrad

© mario_storch / flickr.com / CC BY 2.0

When you get to Kaliningrad, you get to Europe. In Russia… It seems to me that this is the most unusual city in our country. Kaliningrad still harbors an atmosphere of something "foreign": buildings, clean streets, signs and inscriptions in German.

By the way, New Year's Eve under the chiming clock is unlikely to be met on the main city square. Here, they even invented their own traditions! Citizens usually spend the Old New Year and spend New Year's Eve in a narrow family circle - at home. But on January 1, all day long, music, fireworks are heard on Victory Square, festive concerts and fairs are held.

During this period, it is not too frosty in Kaliningrad (compared to how it is with us at the end of March-April up to 5+). It’s not snowfall here, but heavy rains with strong winds.

I would like to sum up. Wherever you go to celebrate the New Year 2018, in Russia you will feel a special Russian New Year's atmosphere everywhere: champagne, Christmas tree, Russian salad, “black bread, herring” and smiling passers-by as never before. Let's go to hot countries for the New Year holidays!

Someone likes to celebrate the New Year with his family, and someone celebrates the holidays with a noisy company or goes to a resort. Many people want to spend New Year's Eve in big city, because it is here that most of the entertainment dedicated to NG. The largest flow of tourists comes to Moscow and St. Petersburg, let's see where to celebrate the New Year 2018 in St. Petersburg? What interesting things do the organizers of the New Year holidays offer in the northern capital?

Holiday on the streets of the city

Of course, coming to Big City, tourists first of all want to see all its sights, but St. Petersburg is an unusual city, it itself is one big attraction, everything is saturated with luxury and grace. Therefore, you can celebrate the New Year in the northern capital almost everywhere. Of course, traditionally the main city festivities will take place on Nevsky Prospekt and the incredible Palace Square, already here tourists are imbued with the graceful beauty of the city.

You have little time, you want to meet New Year's Eve and get to know the city better, then it is for such guests that unusual New Year's excursions are arranged every year. Bus tour of St. Petersburg On December 31, at midnight, the bus drives up to Palace Square, so that tourists, together with the townspeople, meet the chiming clock, and then continue an incredible journey through the sights of the city. On this tour, guests of St. Petersburg will hear a lot of new and interesting things about the city, during the trip adults will be treated to a glass of champagne, and children - sweets.

In addition to the main holiday on Palace Square, Christmas markets are organized on many streets, where you can treat yourself to delicious mulled wine, taste local cuisine, and also participate in fun contests, and, possibly, win a prize in memory of the New Year holidays in St. Petersburg.

Adrenaline lovers will find numerous ice slides and skating rinks. You can inexpensively and noisily celebrate the New Year holidays together. Such entertainment is perfect for tourists with children.

Do you like privacy, or are you just ready to spend money at the New Year's Eve, then you can get a ticket to a good boarding house or recreation center in the suburbs of St. Petersburg.

NG in a boarding house

If you have not yet decided where to celebrate the New Year in St. Petersburg, then we suggest you go away from the bustle of the city and noisy New Year's parties. In the suburbs of the northern capital, there are a large number of various boarding houses and sanatoriums that organize special festive events on New Year's holidays.

Of course, to celebrate the holidays in holiday homes, you will have to fork out a lot, the cost of a day in a good boarding house will vary from 4,000 to 7,000 rubles, most likely, the New Year's dinner, which will have to be paid separately, will not be included in the price.

By the way, if you want to spend New Year's Eve cheaper, you can rent a small house, of course, without food, and serve the festive table yourself, the cost of such a house is about 3000-4000 rubles per day. Billiards, a swimming pool, a sauna and a gym are often at guests' disposal. Therefore, NG will be on top. Repino and Red Lake are recognized as the most frequent geographical places for a good rest in St. Petersburg.

The first is a cottage settlement, each house is designed for 6-7 vacationers. For a 4-day stay, you will have to fork out 21.5 thousand rubles for the whole company, excluding meals and organizing a New Year's dinner, in principle, this is not so expensive. Holidays on the Red Lake will be even cheaper. It is worth noting that the New Year's Eve in the suburbs is very popular among Russians, so almost all places in boarding houses for 2018 have already been reserved.

For a holiday together with a child, another entertainment is perfect - the celebration of New Year's Eve in a historical setting, a real masquerade ball is arranged for guests in the traditions of the 19th century, the organizers offer fun from past centuries: sleigh rides, snowball fights. Children are met by Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden, the kid will especially like being in a real New Year's fairy tale.

The guides look like the emperor's ladies-in-waiting, guests are also invited to change into historical costumes, it would be nice to learn in advance some dance performed at balls of the century before last.

To organize a meeting of NG in the best historical traditions, the Kochubey Palace is usually used, the celebration lasts up to 3 days. If we talk about the price, then the cost of a 3-day stay in standard rooms with meals, a New Year's dinner, a ball and other attributes will cost about $ 200 per person, for an additional fee you can rent a luxurious suite, overpay for it or not, it depends only on the size of the tourist's wallet.

By the way, you can celebrate the New Year in the palace and without accommodation, which will be much cheaper, you can celebrate the holiday, and then go home or to another hotel. This is the only negative: the delivery of the client to the house is not included in the services, at 5 am, guests who do not live in the palace will have to look for transport on their own, which can be problematic on January 1.

Alcohol parties

Well, young people, of course, prefer noisy alcohol parties in best bars and clubs of the northern capital. So, how much will a New Year's alcohol trip cost, and where is the best place to go with a company? If we talk about meeting the New Year in a cafe or club, then traditionally the price includes some alcohol (you will have to buy it in the midst of NY, which is not cheap), an appetizer, hot and dessert. By the most modest standards, a menu with a glass of New Year's champagne will cost 3000-4000 per person. The rest of the "fun" is offered for an additional fee.

If you dream of getting to a theme party, then it will cost an order of magnitude more expensive, the cost of the New Year's table starts from 5000-6000 rubles. For 2018, the best St. Petersburg clubs will present Mexican, Soviet, rock and roll and many other topics. Or maybe you want to visit a real coven of witches, then you will have to fork out up to 10,000 rubles per person, plus an additional fee for alcohol, the price of which almost doubles.

By the way, a recent New Year's fun for young people: a real alcohol tour. For 3,000-4,000 rubles per person, you will be taken to 5-10 of the most famous bars in St. Petersburg, where you can drink and dance a lot.

Here you will try interesting cocktails, sing karaoke and have fun from the heart.

It is worth saying that many organizers encourage early booking of New Year's parties, therefore they offer a significant discount, which can reach up to 35%, large companies are also welcome, the more people, the lower the cost of the reservation.

In our short review, we tried to help you with the question of where you can celebrate the New Year 2018 in St. Petersburg. Perhaps, after reading this, you have ideas on how to hold a New Year's party so that it will be remembered for a long time. After all, it is not necessary to celebrate the holiday exclusively at home and with your family, go with your friends and loved ones on an unforgettable journey through the northern capital. Let 2018 leave more joy and emotions in your soul!
